50th Anniversary Celebration          13th – 14th March 2010

You are cordially invited to attend the Auckland School of Philosophy’s 50th anniversary celebrations 13 & 14 March 2010. If you have photos of your time in the school that you would like to share, please let us know

There are three events to participate in:

  1. OPEN HOUSE at 268
    Saturday 13th March – 10am to 3pm
    268 West Tamaki Rd will be open to al. Beginning at 10.00 a.m. with a formal opening.
    Tea and coffee will be available from 10.00 a.m. and a buffet lunch (AT NO CHARGE) will be provided.
    A quartet will be playing for your entertainment and photographs from the past will be on display, along with SOP members’ artwork.

    The OPEN HOUSE is an unstructured event designed for mixing and mingling, and open to all.   Past members are particularly welcome, so please invite any past members you may be in touch with.

  2. ANNIVERSARY DINNER AT AUCKLAND MUSEUM EVENTS CENTRE
    Saturday 13th March – 7pm to 10pm
    There will be a formal dinner at the Auckland Museum Event Centre (under the new dome) beginning at 7.00 p.m.  Tickets are $95 per person. This covers all food and wine.   Bookings are essential for this very enjoyable evening of fine food, entertainment, speeches and good company.

  3. PRESENTATION AT 268
    Sunday, 14 March – 10am – 11.30am
    This will be a significant presentation by the current longest serving philosophy school leader in Australasia, Mr John Jepsen, of the Melbourne School.  The subject will be the future of the school inAustralasia.   Mr Jepsen is a highly experienced and entertaining speaker.
    This will be followed by a closing of the festivities by Mr Barry Preston.

Salad of prawns speared and infused with lime juice and palm sugar, nestled on a bed of roasted courgette and marinated cucumber

(1)Char grilled breast of chicken on crushed potato served with wild mushrooms and seasonal vegetables topped with sauce Provence served with potato gratin and chilli smoked vegetables and a red wine jus
(2)Oven roasted beef eye fillet dusted with manuka smoked sea salt and
(3)Slow roasted eggplant with tomato and kalamata olive salsa, peppered goat’s cream, aged balsamic and micro basil (V)
(4)Roasted vine ripened tomato, oregano and parmesan tart with peppered mascarpone, basil pesto, aged balsamic  and micro basil (V)

Dessert
Caramelised lime and raspberry brulee served with a forest berry coulis

There will also be a selection of freshly brewed coffee and teas
